Obituary of Gertrude Young

Gertrude Young, 97, of Freehold Township died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Applewood Estates Healthcare Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Young was born in Linden and had resided in Brick Township before moving to Freehold Township. She and her husband owned and operated Young’s Bake Shop, Elizabeth before their retirement in 1963. Mrs. Young was a member of the German-American Club, New York City. She and her husband were avid square dancers and square dance callers. Her husband, Mathias Young, died in 2003. Surviving are two nephews, Michael and Robert Gurgo and two nieces, Gertrude Hagel and Sue Ellen Bannon. The viewing will be held the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Silverton.
