Obituary of John David Murphy
John David Murphy, 73, of Howell Township died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in The Bronx, New York, he lived there and in Jackson Township prior to moving to Howell Township 17 years ago.
Mr. Murphy was a metal lather for Local No. 46, New York, New York, for many years, retiring in 1980. After his retirement, he was employed by Nestle Corporation.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold.
Mr. Murphy was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a loving, husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy “Dee” Schmidt Murphy; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cindy Murphy, Irvine, California, Timothy and Jane Murphy, and Chris and Rachel Murphy, all of Jackson Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Megill, Farmingdale; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Mary Murphy, Castle Isle, Ireland; and eight grandchildren, Jennie, Katie, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Ian Murphy, and Kelly, Amie, and Michael Megill.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Donations in his memory to St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
