Obituary of Michael Winnicki

Michael Winnicki, 65, of Freehold Township passed away Sunday morning, April 3, 2011 at home. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he lived there prior to moving to Freehold Township 37 years ago. Mr. Winnicki was a Chief Financial Officer for Acordia/Wells Fargo, New York City, New York for 35 years, retiring last year. He was also a Certified Public Accountant. For over three decades of commuting to New York City, he often filled the 139 bus with the melodious sounds of his snoring, for which we apologize on his behalf. After his diagnosis, he began a lighthearted fundraising effort that involved his coworkers taking photos of him wearing funny hats-each photo required a donation to the cause of curing cancer. His dedication and perpetual sense of humor made him an inspiration and hero to friends and loved ones. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. He was the light of his wife’s life for over 40 years, and a beacon of strength and guidance for his family. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Lisa Winnicki, Freehold township; two daughters, Kristen Winnicki and Cheryl Winnicki, both of Manhattan, New York; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Wanda Winnicki, New City, New York; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Anthony Stigliano, Port Jervis, New York; and a grandson, Jake. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. Donations in his memory to the V.N.A. of Central Jersey, 176 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701, for they made his last weeks more comfortable for all his family. In lieu of tears, please think fondly of how his wit and kindness have touched your lives and share that joy with others. Until we meet again, “Meehash”, every coin we find on the street will be a reminder of you. We Love You.
