Obituary of Dorothy Meta Lasky
Dorothy Meta Lasky, beloved wife and mother, 75, of Freehold Township and Waterford, Maine, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Dorothy was born in Newark. She was a woman of many talents. Having graduated Barbizon School of Modeling in 1954. Dorothy enjoyed modeling and then began a career with the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Newark, where she met her loving husband.
Dorothy enjoyed arts and crafts, ballet and tap dancing, and oil painting. She was a talented artist. Dorothy was also an active member of the Freehold community, participating in numerous fund raising activities. She was a former Brownie Troop Leader, a Monmouth County 4H Club Leader and a member of the CentraState Medical Center Auxiliary.
After raising her five children, Dorothy pursued a nursing career and graduated head of her class in the Monmouth County Vocational Tech Nursing School Program. She was a nurse at CentraState Medical Center for 13 years before her retirement in 1995.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James A. Lasky, Jr.; a son, James A. Lasky, III and his wife Clair; four daughters, Kathleen Duncan and her husband Keith, Lisa Lasky, Cheryl Lasky, and Cynthia Antico and her husband Eric; a sister, Helen Doerr; a brother, Charles Schleuning; eleven grandchildren, James IV, Megan and Charles Lasky, Keith Duncan Jr. and his wife Lindsay, Dr. Michael Duncan and his wife Lauren, Christopher Duncan and his fiancé Jessica Phillips, and Alexandra, Eric, Jr., Angelo, Anthony and James Antico; and a great grandchild, Michael Duncan, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
