Obituary of Gladys Lykes

Gladys Lykes, 92, of Freehold died Wednesday at home. Mrs. Lykes was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. She was a customer service representative for McGraw Hill Company, Hightstown before her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Chit Chat Club of Freehold. Mrs. Lykes was an avid N.Y. Mets fan who rarely missed watching a game. Her husband, James E. Lykes, died in 1988. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James McAllister; and four grandchildren, Heather, Michele, Michael and his fiancé Chrisann Mowczan, and Theresa. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
