Obituary of John J. Donoghue

John J. Donoghue, Jr., 88, of Tinton Falls died Saturday May 14, 2011 at Renaissance Gardens, Seabrook Village. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he lived in Oakhurst for 46 years prior to moving to Tinton falls six years ago. Mr. Donoghue was the Executive Director for the ARC of Monmouth County, Tinton Falls, for 13 years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Donoghue received a Masters degree in Education from Duke University in 1948. He was a U.S. Navy Aviator during World War Two. His wife, Helen P. Donoghue died in 2010. Surviving are a son, Robert Charles Donoghue; a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Elaine A. Donoghue and Dr. John Smulian; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Laura Smulian. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Town Square Auditorium at Seabrook Village, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls, NJ. Memorial donations to the ARC of Monmouth County, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
