Obituary of Walter Cohen
Walter Cohen, 77, of Freehold Township died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Cohen was a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Oglensky Jackson Post No. 359, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. where he served as post adjutant, Disabled American Veterans Post No.74, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4374, all of Freehold. He was a volunteer for Open Door of Freehold and served on the Board of Directors of Friends of Monmouth Battlefield.
Surviving are his wife, Nora Pizzaro Cohen; and two brothers, Charles Cohen, Marlboro Township and Richard Cohen, Texas.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Veteran’s posts services will begin at noon followed by religious services. The interment will be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations to Open Door of Freehold or a veteran’s service organization would be appreciated.
