Obituary of Bertha Spevak
Bertha Spevak, 87, of Manalapan Township died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Spevak was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident of Manalapan Township.
She was raised on a farm and later owned a small poultry farm. Mrs. Spevak was a school bus driver for the Manalapan Englishtown School District for 34 years before her retirement in 1992.
Mrs. Spevak was a 30 year member of the Manalapan Township Fire Company No. 1 Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Spevak, Sr.; her parents, George and Antonette Dvorak; a sister, Mildred Stocek, and a brother, Oldrich Dvorak.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Spevak, Jr., Manalapan Township; two granddaughters, Kimberley Halpin and husband Robert and Elizabeth Spevak; a great grandson, Justin Halpin; two nephews, Rudolph Stocek and wife Arlene and Oldrich Dvorak and wife Marie; and two nieces, Lorraine Harris and husband Dorsey and Georgiana Edson.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to Manalapan Township Fire Company No. 1, PO Box 28, Manalapan, NJ 07726 would be appreciated.
