Obituary of Frederick Edward Jones

FREDERICK EDWARD JONES, JR Mr. Jones, 91, of Port St Lucie, Florida, formerly of Freehold, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at his residence in Florida. As a baby, Fred lived on Pawtucket Ave, Pawtucket, RI, before going to Laurel, MD, with his parents. There, as a young child on Lafayette Ave., he witnessed a disastrous train wreck. Later the family lived in Cranford and Westfield, NJ. He graduated from Westfield HS in 1937. During World War II, Fred served in the air arm of the U. S. Marines as a navigator on a B-25. He wed Mary during the war. When she joined him in Waco, TX, she took flying lessons and they soloed together in separate airplanes. After the war, he joined E.R. Squibb & Sons in New Brunswick, NJ by whom he was employed until his retirement in 1981. He studied engineering for two years at Rutgers University. In 1977, he and his eldest son Jeff were the original owners of the Court Jester in Freehold, NJ. After Mary died, Fred met and married Olga in Port St. Lucie, FL. He is survived by his son, Steven Jones (Pamela) of Lebanon, NJ; daughter, Linda Luke (Jack) of Port St Lucie, Fl; brother Robert A Jones of Port St Lucie, Fl; eight grandchildren; two great granddaughters. Mr. Jones was predeceased by: his first wife, Mary T. Jones; second wife Olga Jones; son Jeffrey Jones; brothers, Frank B. Jones and Ralph A. Jones. Services will be held graveside at St Rose of Lima Cemetery, in Freehold on July 16th 2011 at 10:30 am.
