Obituary of Ann Richardson Manos

Ann Richardson Manos, 97, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. She was born and raised in New York City, and a long time resident of Spotswood. Ann was a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Marlboro for the last 6 years. She had been a long time employee of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company retiring in 1980. She was predeceased by her husband, 1st Lt. Nicholas Manos, who was KIA during the Korean War, her older brother, Bill Richardson and a younger sister, Patricia. She is survived by beloved brother, George Richardson of Spotswood, and two daughters, Janet Manos and Jean Manos Andreacci, both of Freehold. A dog lover, English grammar tyrant, and a Mets fanatic, she was known for her sharp sense of humor and love of anything Irish. Ann was always a sports person, known for playing marbles and softball in Central Park. Ann was also renowned for her “competitiveness” in Jacks and Scrabble. She had an impressive vocabulary that she wielded while completing crossword puzzles. She was an active member of the parish of Immaculate Conception and a longtime Eucharistic minister. Ann was known as Mema to her 5 grandchildren (Nicholas, Mark, Tim and Beth Andreacci; and Nicholas Manos), and 5 great grandchildren (Isabella, Robert, Brianna, Sean, and Jackson Andreacci). She was also the cherished Aunt and “Barney’s friend” to her many grandnieces & grandnephews. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday, February 21st, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, February 22nd, at 10:15 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church, 18 South Street, Spotswood. Interment will follow at Cypress Hills National Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Donations in her memory to Birthright, 49 East Main Street, Freehold would be appreciated.
