Obituary of Florence Mangan

Florence Mangan, 86, of Freehold, passed away peacefully on Sunday Aug. 14 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson Township with her family at her side. Florence grew up in Syracuse, NY, relocated to New Jersey as a bride, living in Rochelle Park, later Freehold and Oak Tree Park in Jackson. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be sorely missed by all whose lives were touched by her humor, kindness and grace. Florence is well known for her knitting, and most of her extended family has been warmed by her beautiful sweaters. She loved playing cards, baking and Jeopardy She is survived by John, her husband of 63 years, her daughters Kathy and her husband Richard Pultar of Freehold, Karen Nedd and her partner Charles Gregory of California, Marta (Chris) Lev and her wife Beth, of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister, Kate Connell of Wrightstown, her grandchildren Amara and her husband Ben Schaible, Richard, Sam and Ariana, her great-granddaughter Ella and many nieces and nephews. Florence is predeceased by her son, Thomas, brothers Joseph and Thomas Windhausen and sister Dorothea Tanasy. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Alzeihmer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 17 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Higgins Memorial Home (www.higginsmemorialhome.com) at 20 Center St., in Freehold, NJ 07728.
