Obituary of Sadako Lykes
Sadako Lykes, 77, of Whiting passed away on September 3, 2011 at home. Born in Japan, she lived in Freehold and Howell Township prior to moving to Whiting ten years ago.
Mrs. Lykes was a machine operator for Peerless Tube Products, Freehold for 5 years, retiring 15 years ago. Prior to that, she was employed at Cero Wire Corp., Freehold Township.
She was a loving wife for 54 years who enjoyed gardening, Atlantic City and family, the outdoors and the ocean, and lived life to the fullest.
Surviving are her husband, Robert D. Lykes, Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. Jr. and Michele Lykes, Plumstead Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Meaney, Springfield, Virginia; a sister, Hatsane Imamura, Japan; and four grandchildren, Jesse and Cassie Lykes, and Nicole and Mitchell Meaney.
Donations in her memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
