Obituary of Virginia C. Walsh
Virginia C. Walsh, 92 of Freehold passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she lived in Haworth prior to moving to Freehold 44 years ago.
Mrs. Walsh was a registered dietician at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a 1944 graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, and received her Master’s degree from New York University in 1945.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member and past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Rose of Lima; and a member of the Molly Pitcher Quilter’s Society. She was also a former member of the North Jersey German Shepherd Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Walsh, Sr. in 1962, her children, Patricia in 1952 and Michael in 2013, and a sister, Muriel McGuire, in 2012.
Surviving are her son, William F. Walsh, Jr., Freehold; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Merrill, Cranford; two grandsons, Robert Merrill and Mickey Walsh; and a nephew, George McGuire, Jr., Mahwah.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
