Obituary of Gilbert Kluchinik
Gilbert Kluchinik, 90, of Manalapan Township passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Jackson on November 30, 2014 surrounded by his three daughters. Born in Plymouth, PA, he resided in Hillside before moving to Manalapan 32 years ago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Before his retirement, he worked for Singer Co. for 17 years and for Wakefern Food Corp. for 25 years.
His hobbies included singing in the church choir in his younger years, playing the guitar and harmonica and reading historical novels. He spent many summers vacationing with his family in his home in Forked River and enjoyed tending to his garden. He loved spending time with his dog, Honey.
He was married for 60 years to his devoted wife, Lucia, who he loved dearly and who predeceased him in 2008.
Surviving are a son, John Kluchinikas, three daughters, Daiva Amantea, Lucy Furmanec, and Ruth Roberti and four grandchildren, George, Stephanie, Alex and Zac.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday December 3 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Manalapan on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, 14 Comerce Drive, Suite 301, Cranford, NJ 07016.
