Obituary of Harry A. Thompson

Harry A. Thompson, 92, of Englishtown died Friday, October 17, 2008 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Freehold Township and had resided in Englishtown since 1941. He was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1934. Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as a Radarman 3rd Class aboard an LSM and an LSMR. Mr. Thompson worked for over 60 years as a self-employed gravedigger in many local cemeteries. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown. His wife, Adelette Blair Thompson, died in 2006. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay B. and Marta Thompson, Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania and Jon H. and Maria Thompson, Englishtown; a sister, Helen Kollman, Grand Ledge, Michigan; and six grandchildren, Troy, Robert, Peter, Harry, Benjamin, and Alan Thompson. A joint memorial service for Mr. Thompson and his late wife will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown, 50 Main Street, Englishtown on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown in his memory would be appreciated. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
