Obituary of Thomas Carton Dugan

Thomas Carton Dugan, 89, of Toms River died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at home. He was born in Toms River and had resided in Long Branch before moving to Toms River 25 years ago. He was an investigator of the Long Branch Public Works Department before his retirement. Prior to that he was the manager of McCue’s Dairy, Long Branch. Mr. Dugan was a communicant of St. Luke’s R.C. Church, Toms River and a former communicant of Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Long Branch. He a graduate of Monmouth College, West Long Branch; and a life member of Phil Daly Hose Company No. 2 and the Long Branch First Aid Squad. He was predeceased by a friend, Phyllis Power, who died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Edward Johnson, Novelty, Ohio; two grandsons, Patrick Johnson, Philadelphia, Penn., and Erik Johnson, Novelty, Ohio; and many cousins. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Church, Toms River on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown Township. Memorial donations to the Phil Daly Hose Company No. 2 or the Long Branch First Aid Squad would be appreciated.
